African-Centered Play Therapy (ACPT)
The foundation of African-Centered Play Therapy™ is community. ACPT is a therapeutic approach that harnesses the power of play while centering and honoring the Black experience of children, their families, and their community. Healing is not an isolated process—our work ensures that children feel supported in their growth through culturally affirming interventions that involve the people and spaces that shape them.
Parent & Family Involvement
Healing is not an individual experience for children. Parents are required to participate in:
✔️ Family Therapy Sessions (with the child)
✔️ One-on-One Parent Consultations
Your child’s growth depends on support beyond the therapy room.
We welcome families and communities into the process to foster lasting emotional wellness.
Who We Help
Our ACPT services support children and youth navigating:
Anxiety
Grief & Loss
Racial Trauma
Bullying & Peer Conflict
Emotional, Physical & Sexual Abuse
Identity & Self-Esteem Challenges
Life Transitions (moving, new school, family changes)
How is ACPT different from traditional play therapy?
Evaluates racial beliefs & ideologies in therapy
Eliminates harmful racial narratives
Fills the gaps in inclusion & representation
Centers community as a core part of healing

Every family is unique, so we tailor therapy sessions and consultations to fit your family’s needs and goals.
